This painting is based on my interpretation of a photograph that I took on Santa Monica Beach. Living next to the beach has given me the opportunity to catch many beautiful sunsets. Every so often the lone sail boat will pass perfectly across the setting sun, creating one of my favorite silhouettes, all the while, a nightly dance takes place at the shore break, as countless sea birds are chased back and forth across the sand searching for a meal while trying to avoid the crashing waves at their feet.
